Virtual pinball cabinets are not one product class. A compact licensed machine, a connected turnkey platform, and a custom Windows cabinet may all look like pinball—but they differ dramatically in software freedom, serviceability, content rights, and upgrade path.

1. AtGames Legends Pinball 4KP

AtGames is our turnkey pick because the official specification is unusually concrete. The company lists a 32-inch playfield that supports up to 4K, an HD backglass, an HD DMD, PC OTG support, approximate dimensions of 66 × 43 × 23 inches, and a weight of about 129 pounds.

Two details matter:

  • AtGames explicitly says not every table runs the playfield at full 4K resolution.
  • Table compatibility can be tied to the Legends 4K platform; an older Legends HD purchase is not automatically a 4K entitlement.

The AtGames store showed standard 4KP configurations from $1,699.99 at this source check, with variants and stock differing by theme. Verify the exact included tables, shipping, warranty, return terms, and optional feedback kit.

2. Arcade1Up Star Wars Virtual Pinball

Arcade1Up is our compact licensed pick. Its official product page lists ten Star Wars tables, a 24-inch HD playfield, 7-inch score display, haptic flipper feedback, solenoid feedback, a working plunger, and a 59.5-inch cabinet height.

The page displayed $430 at the review date. Treat that as a dated listing, not a normal market price. Confirm stock, seller identity, regional warranty, delivery damage policy, and whether replacement parts remain available.

This is the right machine if the fixed Star Wars package is the feature. It is the wrong purchase if your real goal is an open PC software library.

3. Custom PC cabinet

A custom cabinet takes third because it is not really a turnkey product—but it can be the best long-term machine for an owner who values repairability and software control.

Visual Pinball’s official project lists configurable cabinet views, specialized controller support, plugins, and multiple operating systems. Pinball FX and Zaccaria can add commercial catalogs where supported.

The trade is blunt: you become the system integrator. You must verify electrical safety, component cooling, software licences, content rights, backups, and support.

Five checks before paying

  1. Exact model: theme names can hide different hardware or included tables.
  2. Native versus supported resolution: “4K display” does not mean every table renders natively at 4K.
  3. Content ownership: determine whether tables are built in, account-bound, device-bound, subscription-based, or sold separately.
  4. PC connectivity: confirm supported resolution, refresh, audio, controls, and warranty impact.
  5. Service path: ask who supplies displays, boards, buttons, and firmware support after warranty.

Do not buy “hundreds of preloaded tables” from an unidentified seller. A large number does not prove licences, quality, or the ability to reinstall what you bought.
